Priscilla Everette Oates – Alternative Family Living Professional

A resident of Princeville, North Carolina, Priscilla Everette Oates has a career in mental health services and government, spanning 20 years. As an alternative family provider, Priscilla Everette Oats has assisted clients with various mental health issues.

In 2003, Ms. Oates began as an alternative family living provider for Community Alternatives of North Carolina. In this role, she provided 24-hour residential support and functional training to two patients to help them live independently. She also implemented daily goals for case managers, assessed patients, and gave weekly reports on patient progress to her supervisor.

By 2005, D-POM.LLC, an alternative family provider agency, hired Ms. Oates to oversee clinical oversight of mental services for children and adults with mental health disorders and disabilities. She also taught adaptive skills and training in personal care, among other administrative duties.

Ms. Oates remained in this role until 2016, when she became the CEO of Positive Generation in Christ (PGIC), Inc. In this position, she also works with children and adults with mental health disorders and disabilities, teaching them adaptive skills to prepare them for independence.

Before her work in mental health, Ms. Oates served in local government. Her first post was as Commissioner of Princeville in 2000. She became the Mayor of Princeville and the Executive Governors Council Committee for Edgecomb, Nash, Wilson, and Halifax Counties from 2002 to 2006, two committees where she served concurrently.
